The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced the squad for upcoming white-ball tour of Australia. Shubman Gill has been named the new ODI captain with Shreyas as his deputy. Rohit and Kohli, however, are in the ODI squad as batters.

India squad announcement for Australia tour LIVE: The BCCI has announced the white-ball squads for the upcoming tour of Australia where India will be play ODIs and T20Is. The tour is set to start right after ongoing two-Test series against West Indies.

Former skippers Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli have made a return to international cricket in ODI squad. The duo last played on India Test tour of Australia in December-January 2024-25. Both the players announced the retirement from Test cricket after that, having already announced retirement from T20Is following India's T20 World Cup 2024 title win.

Shreyas Iyer has been named new ODI vice-captain under newly appointed skipper Shubman Gill. The race between the new ODI skipper was between Shubman Gill, who is India's new Test captain following Rohit's retirement and Shreyas Iyer, who is leading the India A side against ongoing ODI series against Australia A in India.

Looking at India's pack international calendar after the Australia tour, Jasprit Bumrah has been rested from ODIs. while Hardik Pandya misses out due to injury picked up before Asia Cup 2025 final.
