Cricketer Mohammed Shami's estranged wife Hasin Jahan joins Congress

The estranged wife of Indian cricketer Mohammed Shami, Hasin Jahan, on Tuesday, joined the Indian National Congress party.

Jahan was inducted to the Congress by Mumbai party President Sanjay Nirupam.

Earlier in the year, Jahan, who is a model by profession, made headlines when she alleged that her husband, Shami, abused her physically and mentally and was involved in several extra-marital affairs.

On April 10, Jahan also filed a domestic violence case against the pacer and his family members in Kolkata's Alipore Court. She also sought maintenance from her husband.

Shami, however, denied all the accusations.
