Hours after she was denied entry into Aurangabad in Maharashtra for a tourist visit, Bangladeshi author Taslima Nasreen expressed her disappointment and surprise on Twitter.
Taslima Nasreen wrote on Twitter that it was her "dream" to visit the historic Ajanta and Ellora caves and was surprised that it "it was not possible in the largest democracy in the world".
The controversial author was sent back from the Aurangabad airport to Mumbai after protests led by Imtiyaz Jaleel, a legislator of the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) from Aurangabad. She landed at the Chikalthana Airport on May 29, and was stopped by the police from stepping out of the airport.
She wondered how "fanatics got to know" about her itinerary and hotel bookings.

The AIMIM legislator said her writings have "hurt" the religious sentiments of Muslims across the world.
"We will not allow her to step on the soil of our city," he said.
A huge crowd had gathered at the airport shouting slogans like "Taslima Go Back". Protesters had also gathered outside a hostel where Nasreen was to stay during her three-day visit.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (zone-II) Rahul Shrirame told PTI yesterday that Nasreen was sent back to Mumbai by the next flight to avoid any "law and order problem".
The author was advised to abandon her visit to the city and she agreed go back, the police officer said.
Taslima Nasreen has been living in exile ever since she left Bangladesh in 1994 in the wake of threats to her by fundamentalist groups for her views on Islam.
A citizen of Sweden, she has been getting an Indian visa on a continuous basis since 2004.
The Indian government had extended her visa for one year, with effect from July 23, 2017.
