Xiaomi has tied up with a web-based portal GadgetWood to offer customers one-day repair and delivery services. The partnership was conceived after a three-month pilot project in Delhi-NCR region, with nearly 500 customers availing the services during the test period.

Xiaomi India head Manu Kumar Jain told EconomicTimes, “We want to bring door delivery services to customers, who otherwise have no time to travel and identify outlets to service their gadgets in.”

GadgetWood is a multi-brand repair and support provider for mobiles and tablets and also features onsite pickup and delivery of devices with unlimited doorstep assistance. It also allows customers to access live updates on the status of the repair process, get SMS updates, and also telephonic and remote support. The one-year-old startup recently managed to raise Rs 1.1 crore in the first round of funding from Indian Angel Network.

“As a startup, we are constantly looking for such opportunities. We reached out to them (Xiaomi India) and got a quick response,” GadgetWood co-founder and director Jayant Jha told.

Xiaomi is one of the few smartphone manufacturing companies with customer-centric policies. The new service will be a boon to the working class who needn’t rush to the service center after working hours and wait for their turns. Another challenge lies in the daunting task of locating the service outlets in metro cities.
