Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Monday told the voters not to deny money given to them by other political parties, but vote for the Aam Aadmi Party.

"On the night of election, do they [other political parties] come to give money or not?" Kejriwal asked, without mentioning the BJP or Congress. &nbsp; &nbsp;

"What will you do? Take it, don't deny it, but vote for jhadu (broom, AAP's election symbol)," the AAP chief said at a roadshow in support of South Delhi candidate Raghav Chadha.

The Delhi chief minister made a similar comment in Chandni Chowk earlier, following which he was sent a show-cause notice by the Election Commission.

Chadha, meanwhile, said the youth would reject the politics of hooliganism.

"To all the political goons in South Delhi, I want to say that for a very long time, you all have imposed politics of fear and muscle in South Delhi," he said. "But no longer. Now, the youth of this country will reject the politics of hooliganism and initiate politics of honesty and decency."

"Stop intimidating and insulting the people of South Delhi and pay heed... We will neither be scared nor let you scare people any longer," Chadha said.

The roadshows come two days after Kejriwal was slapped by a man in New Delhi constituency.

Bharatiya Janata Party candidate from Barrackpore Arjun Singh on Monday claimed he sustained injuries after an attack by supporters of Mamata Banerjee's Trinamool Congress near a village in Barrackpore.

"I was attacked by TMC goons while I was trying to talk with voters. It was a planned attack and I will report the matter to the Election Commission. TMC's hooligans are running unchecked in the state, my bleeding mouth is a proof of it," Singh said.

Slamming the ruling TMC, Singh said he was attacked by the party's goons who have been brought from outside.

"Those people were scaring away our voters. I am injured," he said.

Meanwhile, voters in booth number 148 of Hajipur constituency in Bihar had to face problems as the Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) developed problems leading to delay in the start of the voting process.

The voters complained they had to stand for more than an hour due to the EVMs developing problems.

Raj Narayan Mahto, presiding officer of booth number 148, however, said that the EVM had developed some glitches which were resolved in an hour and the voting process could begin soon.

"There was some problem with the EVM which we tried to solve but it took longer than usual. The machines do not need to be changed as the problems have now been sorted, voting will resume in a few minutes," said Mahto.

A voting glitch was also reported from booths in West Bengal's Howrah, reportedly after glitches in EVMs and VVPATs.

Voting in West Bengal is being held for seven out of the 42 Lok Sabha constituencies in the state.

Hooghly, Sreerampore, Arambagh, Howrah Uluberia, Barrackpore and Bongaoan are voting in the fifth phase.

These constituencies are spread across three districts of south Bengal - Hooghly, Howrah and North 24 Parganas.

Polling has already been held in 18 seats of the state in the past four phases.

In Bihar, voting is being held in five Lok Sabha seats - Hajipur, Saran, Muzaffarpur, Sitamarhi and Madhubani.

Union minister Ram Vilas Paswan on Monday praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi saying under his leadership quotas were introduced for the economically weaker sections among the unreserved category without in any way disturbing the other social groups, reported news agency PTI.

Accusing the Congress-led opposition for "raising false alarms that quotas would be scrapped", Paswan sought to underscore "affirmative action for any social segment has, so far, never been taken during a Congress government".

When Ambedkar mooted the idea of separate electorates for depressed classes during the British rule, Mahatma Gandhi went on a fast unto death and a compromise had to be reached through the Poona pact, he was quoted as saying.

"The Mandal Commission's recommendations were implemented by V P Singh and the country has had its two Dalit Presidents under the United Front government of the 1990s and, now, during Narendra Modi's rule. Congress has no matching contribution to speak of", the Lok Janshakti Party president alleged at a press conference.

He also lauded Modi for "raising the prestige of India among the countries of the world which has resulted in Masood Azhar getting declared as an international terrorist - a demand India had been raising for long without much success".

Paswan expressed confidence that the NDA which also comprises Chief Minister Nitish Kumar's JD(U) in Bihar will put up a stellar performance in the state.

"We have our achievements besides cohesiveness of leadership. On the other hand, the Mahagathbandhan appears to be in disarray which has been reflected in its choice of weak candidates resulting in much resentment among the respective parties' rank and file", Paswan claimed.&nbsp;

Lucknow Lok Sabha seat has gone to polls today in the fifth phase of the Lok Sabha polls.&nbsp;

Home Minister Rajnath Singh is the BJP's candidate from the seat, Pramod Krishnam is fighting on a Congress ticket, and Poonam Sinha is SP-BSP-RLD's candidate for the Lok Sabha constituency.&nbsp;

Modi, addressing a poll rally in Uttar Pradesh on Saturday, had targeted the former prime minister while attacking Rahul. "Your father (Rajiv Gandhi) was termed Mr Clean by his courtiers, but his life ended as bhrashtachari No 1," Modi had said.

Jaitley said that even former prime minister Indira Gandhi was also assassinated and yet the Congress is questioned about the Emergency and the Operation Blue Star. "The Dynast can attack the integrity of India's Prime Minister - a man of utmost honesty. Does he believe that the dynasty does not have to answer any questions?" the Minister said.

The Bofors defence deal was believed to be one of the primary reasons for the Rajiv Gandhi-led Congress's defeat in the 1989 Lok Sabha polls.

On former prime minister Manmohan Singh accusing the Modi government of leaving the economy in dire straits, Jaitley said, "When an economist turns into a politician, he loses the sense of both economy and politics. Dr Manmohan Singh left behind in 2014 an economic slowdown, policy paralysis and corruption. He brought down his party to lowest ever strength in Parliament. India was a part of the fragile five. Today he regards the World's the fastest growing major economy as disastrous," Jaitley said.

According to him, they have to either get the support of the BJP or the Congress or they have to support one of the fronts -- UPA or NDA.

"And it shows, he (KCR) is more anti-Congress than anti-BJP. We (Left parties) are more anti-BJP than taking an anti-Congress stand. So, we have to wait and see the developments. We are not opposed to non-BJP, non-Congress government at the Centre, with the support of the Congress but not with the support of the BJP", Reddy said.

"Maybe it's like United Front (government) earlier", he predicted, referring to the 13-party coalition between 1996 and 1998 supported from outside by the Congress.

There might be a possibility the NDA may get the largest number of seats but it will be "very far off from the majority that's needed to form the government," Reddy claimed.
