In UttarPradesh'sSitapur, a man brutally murdered his five family members before committing suicide. The incident unfolded on Saturday (May 11) in Palhapur village of Rampur Mathura in Sitapur, nearly 90 kilometres from Lucknow.
The accused, identified as 42-year-old Anurag Singh, first shot dead his 65-year-old mother Savitri.Then, he fatally attacked his 40-year-oldwifePriyankawitha hammer.
The man then turned his attention towards his three children —Ashwini (12), Aarna (9) and Advik (6). He threw all of them off the roof of his house resulting in two more casualties while Advik sustained critical injuries. Later, Advik also died in hospital.
The man then shot himself dead.
As per media reports,the man was mentally challengedand a drugaddict,who used to frequently argue with his family members as they wanted to send him to a de-addiction centre.
Before he went on a rampage on Saturday, the manis believedto have had an altercation with his family members.
When police reached the scene, they found Advik seriously injured and the dead bodies of five family members.
"Today, police received information from Palapur village that a mentally ill person, named Anurag Singh aged 45 years, has allegedly killed five people of his family before committing suicide. While investigating, police found that he killed his wife aged 40, his mother aged 65, and his three children who were 12, nine, and six years old. The police and the FSL team are investigating,”Sitapur SP Chakresh Mishrawas quotedas sayingby news agency PTI.
Police said that further investigation was underway.
