Terrorists open fire on bus carrying pilgrims in Jammu & Kashmir; 10 dead, 33 injured

Bus plunges into gorge after terror attack

At least 10 people were killed as a bus they were travelling in rolled down a gorge after being fired upon by terrorists in the Reasi district of Jammu and Kashmiron Sunday (Jun 9). The buswas carrying Hindu pilgrims returning from Shivkhoda temple to Katra.

As per media reports, the incident took place asterrorists opened fire on the bus carrying pilgrims in theUnion Territory,

Security personnel are deployed at the site and an investigation is underway.

A police official said 33 people got injured in the accident and the rescue operation has been completed.

"Initial reports suggest that terrorists fired upon the passenger bus going from Shiv Khori to Katra. Due to the firing, the bus driver lost balance of the bus and it fell into gorge. 33 people were injured in the incident. Rescue operation has been completed. The identities of the passengers have not been confirmed yet, they are not locals. Shiv Khori shrine was secured and area domination was done," saidSSP Reasi Mohita Sharma.

Jammu Kashmir National Conference chiefDr. Farooq Abdullah and Vice President Omar Abdullah condemned the incident.

In a statement released on social media site X, the party said: "JKNC President Dr. Farooq Abdullah and Vice President Omar Abdullah have strongly condemned today's terror attack in Reasi, J&K. They stated that such violent acts pose a significant barrier to attaining enduring peace in the region. They called on all communities to unite during these challenging times and back initiatives aimed at achieving lasting harmony. They also extended their heartfelt condolences to the victims and their families, expressing their deep sympathy during this tragic period."
