Supreme Court orders Indian examination agency to publish NEET-UG results masking identity of students

The Indian Supreme Court on Thursday (Jul 18) directed the National Testing Agency (NTA) to declare the marks obtained by students in the NEET-UG examinations by noon on Saturday (Jul 20). The court also ordered that the identity of the students be masked when uploading the results.

A bench comprising Chief Justice of India (CJI) D Y Chandrachud and justices JB Pardiwla and Manoj Misra heard the case and delivered the order.

"The petitioners have submitted that it would be appropriate if the results of the NEET-UG 24 exam are published on the website so as to bring about some transparency on the centre-wise marks obtained by candidates," the bench stated.

"We direct the NTA to publish the marks obtained by students in the NEET-UG 24 exam while at the same time ensuring that the identity of the students is masked. The results should be declared in relation to each centre and city separately."
