Sunita Kejriwal claims Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal is victim of 'political conspiracy', calls for public support

Sunita Kejriwal, the wife of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, said on Saturday (Jul 6) that her husband was the victim of a "deep political conspiracy" and encouraged the publicto support him, warning that if they didn't, no honest and educated person would want to enter politics.

She claimed in her first video message following the Lok Sabha election results, that Kejriwal was detained by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in the excise policy case by using a "false" statement from a witness.

Sunita Kejriwal made similaraccusations previously made by the leaders of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP)against Magunta Srinivasulu Reddy (MSR), who was recently elected to the Lok Sabha on a Telugu Desam Party (TDP)ticket, and his son Raghava Magunta, an accused-turned-approver.

She saidthat if the people of New Delhi do not support Kejriwal, no educated and honest person in the nation will pursue a career in politics.

Based on TDP MP MSR's testimony, the EDdetained Arvind Kejriwal, said Sunita. She mentioned that the TDP is a part of the ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA).

Delhi CM's wife alsosaid that following the arrest and denial of bail for his son Raghava Magunta Reddy, MSR altered his testimony to the ED regarding his meeting with the chief minister of Delhi.

In response to his son's incarceration, MSR reportedly stated on July 17, 2023, that he had met with the Delhi CMon March 16, 2021, to discuss land for a charity foundation he wished to establish in the Indian capital.

Sunita Kejriwal claims that MSR laterwithdrew this remark.

"In his statement to the ED, MSR said Kejriwal asked him in the presence of nearly 10-12 people to enter the liquor business in Delhi and pay ₹100 crore to A. Would anybody ask for money before so many people," she asked.

MSR said that his meeting with CM Arvind Kejriwal on March 16, 2021, lasted a scant four to five minutes. She saidthat he then claimedthat this was the CM's first and final encounter with him.

"It is clear that this statement of Magunta Reddy is false. Magunta Reddy himself has said that this was his first and last meeting with CM Arvind Kejriwal and 10-12 people were also sitting there.

"If someone had to ask for money from someone, would he ask for money from a stranger in front of 10-12 people in the first meeting itself?" she asked.

The Delhi CM's wife appealed for people to see her video and said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi intended to use the ED and CBI to "finish off" Kejriwal and the AAP.

The BJP retaliated against Sunita Kejriwal, accusing her of "casting aspersions" on the judiciary and claiming she has "mastered the art of story-telling like her husband".

"It's surprising to see her casting aspersions on the judiciary as during her story-telling she repeatedly says that the bail of MS Reddy's son was rejected when he gave a true statement and when he buckled under pressure and changed his statement, his son was granted bail by the court," Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva said.
