The Election Commission of India(EC) today rejected nomination papers of late Tamil Nadu chief minister Jayalalithaa's nieceDeepa Jayakumar who was
vying for Chennai's Radhakrishnan Nagar(RK Nagar) assembly bypoll.
The ECI after scrutinising the papers found "several discrepancies" in her form.
The RK Nagar constituency fell vacant after the death of Jayalalithaa last year. It has now become a fight between the two factions in theAIADMK - TTV Dhinakaran and E Madhusudhanan.
Jayalalithaa's niece Deepa Jayakumar had filed her papers on Monday for the RK Nagar bypoll as an Independent candidate.
The bypoll to be held on December 21 for the prestigious RK Nagar seat is likely to be a two-way fight within the AIADMK.
The Election Commission had earlier cancelled the by-polls over allegations of cash-for-votes scandal.
The counting of votes for the RK Nagar seat take place on December 24.
