The Election Commission has finally accepted thenomination ofactor Vishal, after rejecting it earlier during the day.

Vishal expressed his gratification to the Election Commission. He said "Really thankful to the Election Commission for doing the right thing."

Vishal had staged a dharna after the Election Commission rejected his nomination.

The tamil actor had filed the nomination for the RK Nagar constituency as an independent candidateon Monday.

Reports quoted actor's close associates saying that he has been thinking about taking the political plunge as he is fed up with politics in the State.

The bypoll for the constituency from where the late AIADMK supremo J Jayalalithaa was elected twice to the Assembly will be held on December 21 and the counting will take place on December 24.

The Election Commission had cancelled the by-elections in Chennai's RK Nagar constituency earlier this year.

Theelections were cancelled after allegationsof cash against votes had surfaced.

The Election Commission had then said that the by-elections will be conducted when the effect created by the distribution of money and gifts subsides.

It added that with the passage of the time the atmosphere in the constituency will become conducive to the holding of free and fair elections.

The need for conducting by-elections in the constituency arose after the death of J.Jayalalithaa.
