<p>The tamil actor had filed the nomination for the RK Nagar constituency as an independent candidate&nbsp;on Monday.</p>

<p>Reports quoted actor&#39;s close associates saying that he has been thinking about taking the political plunge as he is fed up with politics in the State.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The bypoll for the constituency from where the late AIADMK supremo J Jayalalithaa was elected twice to the Assembly will be held on December 21 and the counting will take place on December 24.</p>

<p>The Election Commission had cancelled the by-elections in Chennai&#39;s RK Nagar constituency earlier this year.</p>

<p>The&nbsp;<a href="http://www.wionews.com/south-asia/india-election-commission-cancels-rk-nagar-bypolls-in-chennai-14360" target="_blank">elections were cancelled after allegations&nbsp;</a>of cash against votes had surfaced.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The Election Commission had then said that the by-elections will be conducted when the effect created by the distribution of money and gifts subsides.&nbsp;</p>

<p>It added that with the passage of the time the atmosphere in the constituency will become conducive to the holding of free and fair elections.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The need for conducting by-elections in the constituency arose after the death of J.Jayalalithaa.</p>
