Watch: Post conviction, 'guest' Ram Rahim was kept at this lavish, so called 'Jail'

Ram Rahim's conviction verdict on August 25 led to massive violence in the northern Indian states. His followers went on a rampage that led to the death of roughly 30 people. More than 250 were injured by the mobs.

He was sentenced to 20 years of prison time by the CBI court on August 28.

However, jail for Ram Rahim does not have the same definition as for any other common prisoner.

After being convicted on Aug 25, Harayana's BJP government appeared to offer VIP treatment to the Dera chief.

Soon after the verdict was declared, Rahim was transferred to a guesthouse in Sunariya in an army helicopter.Some sources claim that Rahim was accompanied by his daughter in the chopper.

The guesthouse is equipped with an air-conditioned room, double bed, and a grand dining hall.

According to some media reports, authorities claimed that the Dera chief could not be accommodated in prison because of "space constraints" and therefore the guesthouse wasconsidered a jail for the time being. The guesthouse is located in the jail complex premises.

The special cell was also provided with bottled mineral water and an assistant.

According to media reports, Ram Rahim was later shifted to the jail cell later that night. He was assigned an attendant in the cell and was permitted to wear his own clothes while other inmates wore jail clothes.

After the quantum of his sentence was announced on August 28, the Dera sect chief was transferred to the jail barrack.
