PM Modi to discuss peaceful resolution of Russia-Ukraine conflict during Kyiv visit

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who left for a two-nation visit on Wednesday (Aug 21), said he will share perspectives on the peaceful resolution of the ongoing Russia-Ukraine conflict.

PM Modi has embarked on a visit to Poland and Ukrainesignaling India’s efforts to strengthen relations with the two countries.

In a post on X, PM Modi said that his visit to Kyiv will be an opportunity to build on the earlier discussions with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and deepen the India-Ukraine friendship.

Further emphasising the friendship between the two nations, he said that India hopes for an early return of peace and stability in the region as a friend and partner.

During his visit, PM Modi is expected to travel from Poland to Ukraine on the overnight train, "Rail Force One". He will be in Kyiv for around seven hours, with nearly 20 hours spent on the train.

Moreover, this same train has ferried several world leaders in the past, including US President Joe Biden, and French President Emmanuel Macron.

"I will be visiting Ukraine at the invitation of President @ZelenskyyUa. This visit will be an opportunity to build on the earlier discussions with him and deepening the India-Ukraine friendship. We will also share perspectives on the peaceful resolution of the ongoing Ukraine conflict. As a friend and partner, we hope for an early return of peace and stability in the region", PM Modi shared on X.

PM Modi embarks visit to Poland

PM Narendra Modi in his departure statement ahead of his visit to Poland, emphasised that Poland is a key economic partner in Central Europe, adding that he will be meeting Prime Minister Donald Tusk and President Andrzej Duda to further advance the India-Poland partnership.

Expressing confidence, PM Modi stated that the visit will serve as a natural continuation of extensive contacts with the two countries and help create the foundation for stronger and more vibrant relations in the years ahead.

In another post on X, PM Modi noted that the Poland visit comes at a special time when we are marking 70 years of diplomatic ties between our nations.

PM Modi will also pay homage to the Indian soldiers at a memorial in Warsaw and is also expected to engage with the members of the vibrant Indian community in Poland.
