
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been extended invitations by both Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelenskyto visit their respective countries after the general elections in India, WION learned.
The invitations were extended during telephonic conversations earlier in the day, which also showoptimism for Modi's third term and India's peacemaker role amid the conflict.
India goes to election from April, with the announcement of results due on June 4.
Earlier in the day, PM Modi conveyed his heartfelt congratulations on Putin's re-election as the President of the Russian Federation.
Indian readout stated, "PM Modi congratulated Putin on his re-election as the President of the Russian Federation and conveyed his best wishes for peace, progress, and prosperity of the friendly people of Russia."
The discussions also broached the ongoing Russia-Ukraine conflict, with Modi reaffirming India's steadfast stance in favour of dialogue and diplomacy as the pivotal means to resolve disputes.
The readout mentioned, "While discussing the Russia-Ukraine conflict, PM reiterated India’s consistent position in favour of dialogue and diplomacy as the way forward."
Echoing similar sentiments, talks between Prime Minister Modi and President Zelenskyunderscored the commitment to strengthen the partnership between India and Ukraine across various domains.
Emphasising a people-centric approach, PM highlighted India's unwavering support for dialogue and diplomacy as the preferred avenues for conflict resolution.
The Indian readout said, "While discussing the ongoing Russia-Ukraine conflict, the PM reiterated India’s people-centric approach and called for dialogue and diplomacy as the way forward."

He underscored India's backing for all endeavours towards an early and peaceful resolution of issues between the concerned parties, affirming India's commitment to contribute meaningfully to the pursuit of global peace. The readout said, "India supports all efforts for an early and peaceful resolution of all issues between the Parties. India would continue to do everything within its means to support a peaceful solution."
In a significant development, Ukraine's Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba is scheduled to undertake a visit to India next week, marking the first such visit since the onset of the Russia-Ukraine conflict in 2022.
Ukraine's keen interest in India's participation in the Global Peace Summit in Switzerland further underscores the pivotal role India plays in global peaceinitiatives.
