PDP's agenda was betrayed by BJP; won't explore any other alliance: Mehbooba Mufti

Jammu and Kashmir's outgoing Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti lashed out at the BJP today, which broke the alliance with her party in the state earlier today. Addressing a press conference, she said the BJP has betrayed the agenda of the alliance by pulling out of it. "PDP's agenda for the state was the one for boosting reconciliation through the alliance, the BJP betrayed the same," Mufti stated.
She further added that muscular policy in a state like Jammu and Kashmir, or a policy backed by force (sakhti), cannot succeed. "Peace and reconciliation is the only way forward," she noted.
"We pressed for a unilateral ceasefire which brought relief to the people here, unfortunately, it was not taken positively. The PDP bats for thepolicy of healing and dialogue; time and again, we encouraged dialogue with Pakistan," she added.
"I am not shocked. We didn't do this alliance for power. This alliance had a bigger motive -- unilateral ceasefire, PM's visit to Pakistan, withdrawal of cases against 11,000 youth," the outgoing chief minister said.
Mehbooba, who submitted her resignation to the governor this evening, said her party will continue to strive for dialogue and reconciliation in the state.
The Bharatiya Janata Party today broke the alliance with Mehbooba Mufti-led Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). The move has paralysed the state government making the Governor's rule imminent in case other parties don't extend support to the PDP.
BJP's general secretary Ram Madhav described "terrorism, violence and radicalisation" as the top reasons for the pullout.
The Congress has clearly ruled out any possibility of an alliance with the PDP. Jammu and Kashmir National Conference's Omar Abdullah announced that he won't back the PDP. According to reports, he met Governor NN Vohra in Srinagar a short while ago and called for Governor's rule and fresh polls.
