Patanjali Ayurved ventures into infrastructure sector

In conjuncture with Patanjali Ayurved's 'Swadeshi' moto, Baba Ramdev has now decided to venture into infrastructure sector, which currently still depends largely on China, reports said on Tuesday.

After capturing the FMCG sector, Ramdev has decided to expand into solar power machine manufacturing after investing a massive Rs. 100 crore.

Patanjali has decided to set up the factory in Greater Noida and had plans to get it up and running in the next couple of months, media reports said.

Acharya Balkrishna, managing director of Patanjali Ayurved said that this idea will benefit every household in India as it aims to provide power supply through solar energy, which is still in its nascent stage in India.

It plans to manufacture solar panels in India at a considerable price so as to avoid a price war with the Chinese solar panels, media reports said.

The government has conveyed its full support to the firm and has decided to provide175 GW of renewable energy by 2022, and is also looking for ways to add capacity through floating solar, solar manufacturing and offshore wind projects. India currently had a mere amount of 60 GW of renewable energy.

As per the report, Patanjali had acquired Advanced Navigation and Solar Technologies Private Limited, a manufacturer of navigation aid equipment, earlier this year. As of now, the facility has a manufacturing capacity of 120 megawatts.

With the average capacity of a solar panel currently at just 16-22%, sub-standard quality will bring about a change in generation.

India plans to award 100GW of solar and wind contracts by March 2020, consisting of plans to call bids for building 20GW solar power capacity, the world’s largest solar tender, at once - to boost domestic manufacturing of solar power equipment.
