
Both Houses of Parliament were adjourned for the day on Tuesday amid a ruckus created by their members.
The Lok Sabha was adjourned for the day following uproar over various issues and immediately after Home Minister Rajnath Singh's statement in Parliament on the Dalit protests.
MPs continued to protest over the Cauvery issue leading to the adjournment of the Lower House.
The Lok Sabha was earlier adjourned barely minutes after it had convened due to disruptions, mainly by AIADMK membersraising slogans seeking early constitution of the Cauvery water management board and trooping into the well.
This was the19th consecutive day that the Lok Sabha was disrupted during the Question Hour.
The Speaker took up the first question during the Question Hour but nothing could be heard in the din.
Members of the Congress and the Left were seen standing at their seats and apparently accusing the AIADMK of stalling proceedings. Some Congress members were also heard slamming the government for violence during the agitation to protest the Supreme Court order diluting a key provision related to arrest under the SC-ST Act.
Members from TMC, BJD and TDP were standing at their seats apparently demanding order in the House, following which Speaker Sumitra Mahajan adjourned the proceedings till 12 noon.
In the Rajya Sabha, Chairman M Venkaiah Naidu told the protesting members that he was ready to "discuss everything and every issue", but noisy protests continued as TDP and AIADMK members disrupted the House by shouting slogans and holding placards. The chairman then adjourned the Upper House for the day.
Earlier, the newly-elected members to the Rajya Sabha, including the 18 members who have been re-elected, took oath.
