
Pakistani troops on Sunday launched heavy mortar shells at civilian areas along the LoC in Jammu and Kashmir's Rajouri and Poonch district for the fourth consecutive day, officials said.
The shells fell deep inside the Indian territory, triggering panic and fear among the residents.
In Rajouri, the Pakistan Army launched heavy mortar shells in Naika, Panjgrain, Khorinar, Rajdhani forward areas since Sunday morning, Deputy Commissioner (Rajouri) Shahid Iqbal Choudhary said.Pakistan troops also attacked nearly half a dozen villages in Balakote sector of Poonch this morning.
No casualties have been reported, an official said, adding thatIndian troops guarding the LoC also fired in retaliation and the firingfrom both sides stopped around 1 pm.
A civilian, Parveen Akhter was killed in firing by Pakistani troops along the LoC in Nowshera sector last night.
On February 8, a 45-year-old woman was killed in shelling by the Pakistani troops along the LoC in the KG sector of Poonch.
Ten security personnel and nine civilians have been killed and over 75 injured in Pakistani shelling along the LoC and the International Border in Jammu region this year.
