Nipah virus: Medicine to be flown in from Malaysia, says Kerala Health Minister
Kerala Health Minister KK Shylaja has said that medicine to treat the Nipah virus outbreak will be flown in from Malaysia.
The government is trying to bring in a medicine called Riba which has been used before in Malaysia and can reportedly, to some extent, control the virus.
Nipah is a zoonosis, or a disease which can be transmitted to humans from animals.
The virus has so far killed 11 people in Kerala.
One of them was the nurse who had been looking after people who had contracted Nipah.
