India, UK agree to take decisive action against LeT, Jaish, IS & other terror organisations

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his British counterpart Theresa May discussed a range of issues today.

Both the leaders agreed to strengthen cooperation and take decisive actions against globally-proscribed terrorists and terror entities including Lashkar-e-Tayibba, Jaish-e-Mohammad, Hizb-ul-Mujahideen, Haqqani Network, Al Qaeda, ISIS and their affiliates.

According to a statement released by the Ministry of External Affairs, May and Modi agreed that terrorist and extremist organisations need to be denied space to radicalise, recruit and conduct attacks on innocent people.

"For this, all countries need to work together to disrupt terrorist networks, their financing and movement of terrorists," the leaders noted.

PM Modi met UK prime minister Theresa May at her official residence in 10 Downing Street.

The UK PM was quick to greet the Indian prime minister, "very welcome to London, Prime Minister," she said.

The two leaders held a breakfast meeting while discussing a wide range of issues of mutual interest.

"It is a matter of happiness for me that I will get to interact with people here on the birth anniversary of Lord Basaveshwara," PM Modi said during his meeting with the British PM Theresa May.

"I hope we can work together for the people of both India and UK," Theresa May told the PM.

British Prime Minister and PM Narendra Modi also discussed co-operation between India and UK on legal matters. The leaders discussed the chemical weapons attacks in Salisbury and Syria, expressing concern and making clear their opposition to the use of chemical weapons by any party in any circumstances.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in the UK today for a four-day visit of bilateral engagements as well as multilateral discussions as part of the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM). UK Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson received Modi at the Heathrow airport here.
