
PM Modi-led government plans to abolish all posts which have been vacant for more than five years. Various ministries and government departments have been directed to submit a comprehensive report on the matter.
The Finance Ministry, in an official memorandum, has asked all ministries and departments to submit a report regarding the same.
According to the directive, financial advisors and joint administrative secretaries of all ministries and departments are requested to identify the posts which are vacant for more than five years.
A comprehensive report on the abolition of such posts is to be submitted at the earliest, the office memorandum, dated January 16, 2018, said.
According to government estimates, several thousand central government posts have been lying vacant for five or more years.
