
Mansukh Mandaviya officially became a cabinet minister in the Narendra Modi government on Sunday, June 9. He took the oath of office along withNarendra Modi andother members of the Council of Ministers.
The 51-year-old, Mandaviya led from the front and handled the country's largest COVID-19 immunisation program.
Mandaviya was fielded by the BJP from Gujarat's Porbandar Lok Sabha constituency and won his first general election with a margin of more than 3.83 lakh votes. The BJP leader was previously elected in 2012 and 2018 to the Rajya Sabha.
Mandaviya did hispostgraduate from theBhavnagar University in political science. In addition, he studied veterinary science and holds a PhD.
In 2021, during the second Modi government, he was appointed Union Health Minister as the country was still grappling with the COVID-19 pandemic. Mandaviya was also placed in charge of the Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers.
