Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has assured the farmers protesting in Mumbai for taking a positive step towards fulfilling their demands.
He said that his government has tried to discuss the matter with them since the first day of the ''Morcha" adding that the Cabinet Minister for Water Resources,Girish Mahajan, was in touch with them.
He added that the farmers were, however firm on taking out the protest.
A meeting was conducted between the delegation of farmers protesting in Maharashtra and political parties at Vidhan Bhawan on Monday.
A six-membercommittee is formed to look into the matter.
The meeting which continued for about three hours has decided to take an action on the transfer of forest land to the cultivators, within six months.
Over 50,000 farmers had marched to Mumbai on Sunday to protest at the legislative assembly in Maharashtra.
The farmers are demandinga complete loan waiver amongstother things.
The meetis led by the chief minister Devendra Fadnavais.
Their other demands included higherprices for their produce and implementation of the Swaminathan Committee recommendations.Longtime cultivators of Adivasiland also demanding transfer of the land to their names.
The farmers'had marched to Mumbai from Nashik on Sunday, with the 180-km-long march being led by All India Kisan Sabha National President Ashok Davle, local MLA JP Gavit and other leaders.
They are protesting against the Maharashtra government which had promisedloan waiver for them in November 2018after they had staged a long protest of over 10 days in the state.
