Kangana Ranaut slap incident: Farmer unions come out in support of CISF woman constable

Several farmer outfits on Friday (Jun 7) came out in support of the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) woman constable who allegedly slapped Kangana Ranaut stating the allegations by the actor-turned-politician need to be investigated appropriately.

They further said that a probe should be initiated to study the entire sequence of events that led to the alleged incident.

Among the two most prominent outfits backing the CISFconstable were the Samyukta Kisan Morcha (Non-Political) and the Kisan Mazdoor Morcha.

SKM (Non-Political) leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal and Kisan Mazdoor Sangharsh Committee general secretary Sarwan Singh Pandher met Punjab's Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav and called for an investigation into the matter.

"The main issue which we raised is that there should be no injustice to the constable. We have been assured that investigations are being held in an impartial manner," Dallewal said after the meeting.

Earlier in the day, Dallewal while addressing a press briefing along with Pandher and some other farmer leaders said, "We will demand a proper investigation and we will tell him that there should be no injustice with the woman constable."

'Insaaf march' to be taken out on June 9

Dallewal said that the union would take to the streets in an "Insaaf march" on June 9 in Mohali, in order to "demand that no injustice be done in this case with the constable".

The woman constable's brother had actively participated in the farmer movements and was a part of the farmer unions, said Dallewal and Pandher.

Pandher alleged that Ranaut had hurt the sentiments of Punjabis with her remarks against the farmers and elderly women in the past.

Both the farmer leaders slammed Ranaut for her statement where she expressed disappointment on how Punjab was witnessing a rise in terrorism.

Dallewal alleged that as per what he was informed, there was some sort of argument from Ranaut's side during the security check and that in such a case, the constable is not to be blamed as she was doing her duty.

"And everyone knows the previous track record of Ranaut and the kind of language she has used towards farmers. There must have been an argument the result of which must have led to the incident. All these things need proper investigation," he said.

"In Punjab, communities of all faiths are peacefully co-existing. We demand that a case should be filed and courts should take suo motu cognisance of the wordings used by the BJP MP," he said

"Ranaut is an actor and now even an MP, she should not speak such language. This is condemnable. We demand that action be taken against her," he added.

Kangana Ranaut slap incident

BJP MP-elect Ranaut on Thursday (Jun 6) alleged that she was hit in the face by CISF woman constable Kulwinder Kaur during a security check at the Chandigarh airport.

This came only two days after she was elected to the Lok Sabha from Mandi in Himachal Pradesh.

The actor-turned-politician took to her official X handle and in a self-made video said, "She hit me in the face and started abusing me. I asked her why she did it and she said she supports the farmer protests." "I am safe but my concern is that terrorism and extremism are increasing in Punjab... How do we handle that?"

She captioned her post, "Shocking rise in terror and violence in Punjab".

Kaur has been booked under Indian Penal Code (IPC) sections 323 (punishment for voluntarily causing hurt) and 341 (punishment for wrongful restraint).

A video of hers is also doing rounds on social media where she can be heard saying, "Kangana made a statement (earlier) that farmers were protesting in Delhi because they were paid Rs 100 or Rs 200. At the time, my mother was one of the protesters."
