Kangana Ranaut, the BharatiyaJanata Party (BJP) MP for the Indian state of Himachal Pradesh, on Wednesday (August 28) revealed that she was rebuked for her controversial comments on the farmers' protests over the now-repealedlaws.
Ranaut recently commented that a "Bangladesh-like situation" could have developed during the farmers' protests if not for India's strong leadership. She also claimedthat "bodies were hanging and rapes were taking place," during the protests, and even alleged the involvement of foreign forces like China and the United States.
In a conversation with India Today, Ranaut said, "I was reprimanded by the party leadership and that's fine with me. I do not think I am the final voice of the party. I am not that crazy or stupid to believe that."

Reflecting on her remarks, Ranautacknowledged that she has "a long way to go" and expressed her regret over the harm the statements may have caused the party's cause or policies.
Ranautsaid she is committed to aligning with the party's stance and said: "If I have genuinely hurt the party's cause and its position or policy, there is nobody who could be more hurt than me."
"I am looking forward to being more careful with my words and aligning to the party's policies. Because for the BJP, hum rahe ya na rahe, Bharat rehna chahiye (the country is more important than an individual)," she added.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) had alsodistanced itself from Ranaut's statements. Publicly disagreeing with her remarks, the party in an official statement clarified that Mandi MP’s comments do not reflect its position and stated that she was not authorised to speak on BJP's policies.
"The statement made by BJP MP Kangana Ranaut in the context of the farmers' movement is not the opinion of the party. BJP disagrees with the statement made by Kangana Ranaut. On behalf of the party, Kangana is neither permitted nor authorised to make statements on party policy issues," BJP said in a statement.
