The Vaishno Devi Yatra which was stopped due to the forest fire in Trikuta hills in Katra has now resumed under caution.

The yatra was resumed after the CRPF showed a commendable role in dousing the fire.

The troops of 6 Bn CRPF deployed in the region, along with local police and shrine board staff, controlled and regularized the movement of passengers which otherwise could have created panic among them.

They also proactively involved themselves in dousing the fire with whatever resources were available with them.

The hills were engulfed in fire on Tuesday.

The fire affected scores of devotees and pilgrims who were stranded at Katra base camp.
