A medium intensity earthquakehad hit the North-eastern state Meghalaya today morning.

The Earthquake struck the state at around 8 am and was measured 4.7 on Richter Scale.

The epicentreof the quake was at a depth of 60 km in remote East Garo Hills district.

A similarmedium intensity earthquake had struck Jammu and Kashmir today morning.

The earthquake measured 4.5 on the Richter scale.

TheNational Seismology Centre of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said that the earthquake occurred at 4:28 am(local time) and was at a depth of 33 km.

There was no report of a casualty from any of the earthquakes.
