The PM of Iceland also spoke on the issue of terror and said 'India has known terror for quite a long time'
The Icelandic PM Katrín Jakobsdóttir has said that India is taking lead on many issues and can bring a lot to the world. In an exclusive conversation with WION from Stockholm, the Icelandic PM said "India can do a lot for the world. India is a whole continent of people with huge magnificent culture. A very remarkable history. India can bring a lot to the world. India is taking lead in the world. Future holds a lot of opportunity for the world."
She also said things are changing in India and the country has a lot of opportunities. The PM also offered help to India in renewable energy saying "hopefully can share knowledge on geothermal with India"
The PM of the Icelandic country also spoke on the issue of terror and said "India has known terror for quite a long time" and it will remain "a big issue in the European politics"
The second female prime minister of Iceland lauded #MeToo movement which can change the culture. Calling gender equality an important thing, the PM of Iceland said "Gender equality has proved good for the economy"
On climate change, the climate crusader said that "world should speak in one voice on the issue" and said she wants her country to become carbon neutral by the year 2040.
On a lighter note, the Icelandic PM said that she has seen the song Gerua from the Bollywood movie Dilwale which was shot in Iceland.
The comments by the Iceland PM comes at a time when Stockholm held its 1st India-Nordics countries summit. PM Modi took part in the summit in Stockholm on 17th April. The summit, first of its kind, had all the 5 Nordic countries backing India's Nuclear Suppliers Group (NSG) bid.
Nordic countries are 5 north European countries - Denmark, Iceland, Norway, Sweden and Finland. The Nordics are world leaders in areas like clean energy and cashless economy, something that can help India in its various programs.
