NEW DELHI

Union Health Ministry on Friday morning said 100 new deaths due to COVID-19 and an additional 3,967 positive cases were reported since Thursday in the country, taking the number of deaths to 2,649 and total cases to 81,970.

Of the total cases, 51,401 are active and 2649 are fatalities so far while at least 27,920 people have recovered from the disease.

Friday marks the 52nd straight day of the ongoing lockdown across the country announced by the central government to contain the spread of the pandemic.

The lockdown, announced on March 25, was on May 1 again extended for the second time until May 17.
