"The Gujarat verdict has clearly sent a message to the BJP and PM Modi that anger will not help, love will finally conquer it," the Congress president said.

Congress won 77 seats in the Gujarat elections, trailing the ruling BJP which finished with 99 seats - the lowest seat-count for a winning party since 1975.

"The people of Gujarat have given me a lot of love, they taught me that in a battle you might have a lot of anger, money power but it can be fought with love," Rahul said after Congress party's best showing in Gujarat in decades.
