Several areas in Bihar including Motihari, Bettiah, Khagaria & Gopalganj have been hit by massive floods, according to agencies.
At least 56 people have died as a result of heavy floods which have inundated 13 districts in the state. An embankment was breached in Gopalganj district with water entering Barauli town, an NDRF commandant told ANI.
Twenty-three national disaster response force(NDRF) teams are operating in flood-hit areas with four more to be stationed, according to reports.

"We have evacuated 14,500 people so far and 13 pregnant ladies, an NDRF commandant told ANI.
A railway track was damaged due to floods in Katihar's Mania. Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar had made an ariel survey of Darbhanga and other areas a few days ago and had expressed concern over the "grim flood situation" during his Independence Day speech.
Bihar has been hit by floods due to incessant rains in Nepal which have inundated several areas in the state.
