
The central government approved the salary hike of Deputy Governors in Union Territories today.
The increase in minimum pay and allowances of Lieutenant Governors (LGs) of Union Territories will be implemented from the period starting from January 1, 2016.
Officers' current salarywill be upped to Rs 2,25,000 plus dearness allowance from Rs 80,000 per month plus dearness allowance. Sumptuary allowance at Rs 4,000 per month and local allowances will remain the same.
The government also revised the minimum pay of officers holding the office of Secretary to the Government of India from Rs 80,000 to Rs 2,25,000 per month.
The minimum salary and allowances of the LGs were last increased in the year 2006 to Rs 80,000 per month from Rs 26,000 per month.
