Android Oreo (Go Edition) operating system was launched today, designed especially for entry-level smartphones
Google is holding its third 'Google for India' event in New Delhi today, an annual event that started in the year 2015 and was first hosted by Google's CEO Sundar Pichai.
The tagline for this year's event is 'Building for the next billion' with an aim to enable its customers and users to understand Google as "the growth engine for the country”.
The event brings together global product and business leaders from Google to create interactive opportunities, educate and spread awareness about some of the newest Google-led innovations, products as well the company's prospective plan, tailormade for the country.
The event started off with enumerating Google's achievement in the country and went on to make announcements that took some of us by surprise, here's sharing some of them that really left a mark on us.

Top event highlights
1. Android Oreo (Go Edition) operating system was launched today, designed especially for smartphones running with 1GB or 512MB RAM and entry-level smartphones.
2. The company also announced to come up with another version of the Google Play Store that will make downloading apps easier and will also notify apps that are best suited and compatible with your device.
3. The 'Go' versions of Google products like the Google Search, Google Assistant, YouTube Google Maps among others have also been introduced.
4. 'Ínternet to every India' remained at the core of the event with eminent personalities discussing ways to provide solutions to most problems with the help of technology and internet and Google-powered products and services.
5. Google Go, a search app for low-budget phones was announced.
6. Expansion of Internet Saathi program was announced - a programme that promotes digital literacy in Indian women and empowering them.
7. A new two-wheeler mode of Google Maps rolled out.
8. Reliance JioPhone to offer Google Assistant.
