<p><a href="http://www.wionews.com/world/10000-google-staff-set-to-police-youtube-content-chief-executive-susan-wojcicki-25873" target="_blank">Google</a> is holding its third &#39;Google for India&#39; event in New Delhi today, an annual event that started in the year 2015 and was first hosted by Google&#39;s CEO Sundar Pichai.</p>

<p>The tagline for this year&#39;s event is &#39;Building for the next billion&#39; with an aim to enable its customers and users to understand Google as &quot;the growth engine for the country&rdquo;.</p>

<p>The event brings together global product and business leaders from Google to create interactive opportunities, educate and spread awareness about some of the newest Google-led innovations, products as well the company&#39;s prospective plan, tailormade for the country.</p>

<p>The event started off with enumerating Google&#39;s achievement in the country and went on to make announcements that took some of us by surprise, here&#39;s sharing some of them that really left a mark on us.</p>

<p>- Google Tez app is used by close to 12 million users; 140 million transactions so far.</p>

<p>- Close to 1 billion apps are downloaded from the Google Play store each month in India.</p>

<p>- 106 million Indians consume news online</p>

<p>- Voice search has great potential, accounts for roughly 28% of all online searches made in India.&nbsp;</p>

<p>- Over 400 million internet users in India; 330 million connected smartphone users.</p>

<p>1. Android Oreo (Go Edition) operating system was launched today, designed especially for smartphones running with 1GB or 512MB RAM and entry-level smartphones.</p>

<p>2. The company also announced to come up with another version of the Google Play Store that will make downloading apps easier and will also notify apps that are best suited and compatible with your device.&nbsp;</p>

<p>3. The &#39;Go&#39; versions of Google products like the Google Search, &nbsp;Google Assistant, YouTube Google Maps among others have also been introduced.&nbsp;</p>
