The foundation stone laying ceremony for construction of a memorial for the late chief minister J Jayalalithaa will be held here on May 7, the ruling AIADMK said on Friday.
AIADMK coordinator O Panneerselvam and co-coordinator K Palaniswami said in a statement that the ceremony would be held at the mausoleum of the late chief minister at the Marina beach at 8.30 am on Monday.
The two leaders said Jayalalithaa had served as chief minister for 16 years, adding she had strived for the well-being of Tamils and the Tamil language.

Jayalalithaa, admitted to a hospital in September 2016, breathed her last on December 5 that year.
