Exit polls 2024: NDA dominates Hindi heartland, sweeps Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and Bihar

On Saturday (June 1), shortly after voting concluded for the Lok Sabha Elections 2024, many pollsters released exit poll projections. Exit polls are post-election surveys that attempt to anticipate the mood of the nation.
The Hindi belt, often known as the Hindi heartland, plays an important role in defining who will win the Lok Sabha election. This is owing in part to numerical strength, the north has a total of 245 Lok Sabha seats, whereas the Hindi belt, except Punjab and Jammu and Kashmir, has 226.
The states that form the Hindi heartland include Chhattisgarh, Haryana, Bihar, Himachal Pradesh, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Uttarakhand. In addition, the National Capital Territory of Delhi is considered part of the Hindi heartland.
