Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s brother booked for posting a derogatory picture of Lord Shiva

Actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui's brother Ayazuddin Siddiqui was booked for allegedly posting a derogatory picture of Lord Shiva on Facebook. An FIR was registered against Ayazuddin at Budhana police station on Sunday after an activist of Hindu Yuva Vahini lodged a complaint.

The activist identified as Bharat Kumar who is also a convenor of BJP’s youth wing Yuva Morcha accused Ayazuddin of allegedly posting an objectionable picture of Lord Shiva and demanded that the police arrest him. He was then booked under 153A of the IPC (promoting enmity between different groups on ground of religion, race, place of birth).

On the issue, Hariram Yadav Deputy Superintendent of Police in Muzaffarnagar said, “Frankly, it looks like Ayazuddin had no intention of hurting anyone. He has not written anything offensive. All he did was to write something rejecting the offensive picture and post which was shared on the social networking website.”

“He wrote something to the effect that condemned the offensive post but while writing it he also copy pasted the offensive picture which is the reason behind the HYV’s anger and complaint. It was after the HYV’s complaint that police registered an FIR against him under section 153A,” he added.

Ayazuddin also spoke in his defence and denying the charges said, “A man posted a derogatory picture of Lord Shiva. I confronted him about it and wrote you shouldn’t share posts that can hurt anyone’s religious sentiments. Instead, a case was filed against me. Charges should be investigated.”

This is not the first time when the Siddiqui brothers have come under the scanner as Nawazuddin had to even pull out of a Ramleela programme after some members of the right-wing party Shiv Sena raised an objection. Shiv Sena didn’t want a Muslim man to play a character in Ram Leela.
