Kartik Aaryan to get Dadasaheb Phalke Excellence award for best entertainer

Kartik Aaryan who delivered one of the biggest blockbuster hits of 2018, Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety will now be awarded Dadasaheb Phalke Excellence Award for being the Best Entertainer of The Year.

Kartik’s performance in the movie SKTKS seemed to have connected with the audience with equal contribution from his co-stars Nushrat Bharucha and Sunny Singh.

The actor first rose to fame with his monologue on women and their issues in his debut film Pyaar Ka Punchnama. He repeated the feat in Pyar Ka Punchnama 2 and both the movies worked well at the box office. However, it was only with Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety that he entered the much-coveted Rs 100-crore-club.

Directed by Luv Ranjan, Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety recorded the second biggest opening at the box office this year after Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Padmaavat.

Along with Kartik, Ranveer Singh, Anushka Sharma, Aditi Rao Hydari,Tamannaah Bhatia and Shahid Kapoor will also get their Dadasaheb Phalke Excellence Awards. The award will be handed out by a Mumbai-based organisation called the Dadasaheb Phalke Foundation. It is different from the Government of India instituted and recognised Dadasaheb Phalke Award -- awarded during National Awards ceremony held annually in New Delhi -- and is India’s highest cinematic honour. This year, the coveted award was given posthumously to Vinod Khanna.
