Harassed by financiers, film producer Ashok Kumar commits suicide

Kollywood film producer and director B. Ashok Kumar allegedly committed suicide at his residence in Chennai`s Alwarthirunagar on Tuesday.
He was reportedly being harassed and threatened by a financier, with whom he was associated for more than seven years. In his suicide note he accused the financier based in Madurai of charging exorbitant interest. His production company had been taking loans from this financier.
The note alleged that in the past six months, he was harassed and threatened by the financier, who claimed to have political clout and also was influential in the police and film circuit.
The Valasaravakkam Police sent the body to the Government Royapettah Hospital for postmortem.
