The death toll in a massive fire that broke out at a plastic manufacturing factory near Ludhiana's Sufia Chowk on Monday has risento ten, officials confirmed on Tuesday.

A National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) team has since been carrying out the rescue and search operations to recover people trapped under the debris.

The five-storeyed building crumbled after a blast took place which was led to a massive fire in the building.

According to reports, around 20 people, including officials from the fire department and municipal corporation were trapped under the collapsed building even as10 bodies have been recovered so far on Tuesday.

Over 15 fire tenders were rushed to the spot immediately at around 8 am on Monday morning.

Chemicals and plastic material stored in Amarson Polymers stoked the fire, reports said.
