Bangladesh Supreme Court to pronounce verdict on Khaleda Zia's bail on May 15

The appellate division of the supreme court has scheduled a final order on Khaleda Zia's bail on May 15.

Zia has been sentenced a five-year imprisonment on charges of misappropriating $252,000 from the Zia orphanage trust. Her bail could decide the fate of her party at the national election due in less than a year.

Zia’s defence counsels challenged the government lawyers that there is not another case where a high court’s discretion to grant bail has been intervened in by the supreme court.
