Pallab Lochan Das, power minister of Assam was detained by police at Gandacherra in Tripura's Dhalai district, on Friday for violating the election code of conduct.
According to media reports, the Assam minister Das was detained while he was busy in poll-related activities at Gandacherra area under 44 Raima Valley Assembly Constituency in Dhalai district of Tripura.
According to the Election Commision, no member of any political party can stay after 4 pm of the penultimate day in the state going for polls.
The detention of a minister from Assam has created reactions across the State.
The CPM has written to the Chief Election Commissioner seeking "stringent action" against Das. It had earlier complained to the commission about the presence of "outsiders" in the poll-bound state.
