One soldier was injured in an exchange of fire along the Line of Control(LoC) on Tuesday after a major infiltration bid was foiled in the Macchal sector of Jammu and Kashmir.

The development occurred even as General Officer Commanding in Chief, Northern Command Lt Gen Ranbir Singh chaired a meeting of the Core Group of Intelligence and Security agencies to review the "operational readiness in Jammu and Kashmir".

"Necessary security arrangements have been put in place for ensuring peace and security," Ranbir Singh said.
