
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Sunday (June 23) promised assistance to repatriate the body of a 32-year-old man from his state who was killed in a shooting rampagein the United States recently.
Naidu expressed condolences to the family of the deceased based in the Bapatla district and vowed every possible help from the state government.
He took to his official X handle and said, "Deeply saddened to learn that a young Dasari Gopikrishna from Bapatla has succumbed to injuries sustained in a shooting incident in Texas, USA. I offer my heartfelt condolences to his family and assure them of every possible support to help bring him home."
The victim, identified as Dasari Gopikrishna, was shot dead in a firing incident at a grocery store in Arkansas, US.
The 32-year-old went to the United States in search of work about a year ago.
He was working at the Mad Butcher grocery store at Fordyce when a masked gunman opened fire and shot him on Friday (June 21).
Gopikrishna sustained critical bullet injuries and succumbed to the wounds in hospital the next day.
He is survived by a wife and a son.
The CCTV footage of the incident, which went viral on social media, showed a masked gunman entering the store and opening fire on Gopikrishna, who was at the counter, and stealing cash and some items.
Four people lost their lives and nine were injured in the incident.
