SUV spins out of control in flooded Gurugram street after heavy rainfall: Watch

After incessant rains disrupted normal life in Delhi-NCR on Wednesday evening (Jul 31), a video of an SUV spinning out of control in the waterlogged streets ofGurugram surfaced on social media.

Waterlogging has been reported in many parts of Gurugram and Delhi, leading to traffic jams and difficulties for people travelling. The video shared on X shows a white SUV spinning in the flooded water in Gurugramwhile the driver is stuck in the car.

The basements of several housing societies, which had cars parked were also flooded with rainwater.

Due to heavy downpourin Gurugram, at least three people lost their lives after getting electrocuted near Iffco Chowk Metro Station. A power supply wire broke and fell in the waterlogged road after a tree got uprooted and fell onthe wires, according to police.

Many areas in the city, including Hero Honda Chowk, Iffco Chowk, Narsinghpur Chowk, Rajiv Chowk, Vatika Chowk, Golf Course Extension Road, Dwarka Expressway, Southern Peripheral Road, Sohna Road, Khandsa Road, Pataudi Road, Udyog Vihar, and Basai, were flooded.

Though referred to as “Millennium City”, Gurugram gets flooded during monsoon rains every year due to poor drainage system.

Schools closed in Delhi

The government has ordered schools to remain shut on Thursday(Aug1)as more rainfall is predicted. Many areas in the national capital, including Kashmere Gate, Rajinder Nagar, and others, were flooded after the downpouron Wednesday evening.

Long traffic congestionwasalso reported due to waterlogging on the streets. The weather department has advised people not to go near waterlogged areas and remain indoors.

A 22-year-old woman and her three-year-old son lost their lives after drowning in a waterlogged drain in Ghazipur near a construction site.

Many areas in Noida were also submerged after torrential rains lashed the national capital region.
