The government has made Aadhaar compulsory for holders of all post office saving schemes.

This will now expand the Aadhaar requirement for all post office saving schemes like the Postal Savings Bank, National Savings Certificate, Kisan Vikas Patra and Public Provident Fund.

The Department of Economic Affairs has issued official Gazette notifications.

The notifications states for providing of Aadhaar details by existing account holders to the post office by December 31.

Holders not having Aadhaar number are required to submit proof of enrolment application for Aadhaar.
