A 21-year old student of the Delhi University (DU) was found dead on Thursdayin the National capital.

Identified as Ayush, thebody of the deceased was found in a drain in Dwarka.

A missing reportwas registered by his father in the Palam Village police station on March 22, when the student went missing.

The report mentioned that a message was sent to Ayush's father asking for a ransom of Rs 50 lakhs against his release.

On March 26,the abductorhad sent another message asking to deliver the money near Uttam Nagar area.

A team of 30 police in civilian clothing were deployed in the areato grab the accused, however, he did not appear.

Eventually, the police recovered the body of the 21-year-old student in the drain in Dwarka sector 13 on March 28.

The police have arrested a 25-year-old resident of Uttam Nagar, Ishtiaq Ali, in connection withthe killing of the student. The arrestee has confessed to the killing citing a wrangle with the DU student.

He said that he made ransom calls to divert the attention of the police.

During the investigation, the police also found that the student was a regular user of dating apps and used to meet strangers quite frequently. This input helped police in the arrest of Ishtiaq Ali.

The police have also traced the vehicle and mobile phone of the deceased.
