Spain had a memorable evening in the Euro 2024 on Tuesday (July 9) after they beat France to booktheir place in the final on Sunday. A clash that will remain in the memories of many for the heroics of 16-year-old Lamine Yamal also had an unfortunate moment when Spanish players were busy celebrating their win over France. Spanish captain Alvaro Morata was seen limping as he returned to the dugout after the celebrations.
Why was Morata limping?
After the monumental win over France, Spanish players celebrated on the pitch in front of the traveling fans. During that time a Spanish pitch invader got onto the field and tried taking a selfie with Spanish players who were in a herd. However, the stewards in charge spotted the invader and tried to stop him from getting to the players which resulted in them attacking the invader in full force.
During that moment, one of the stewards unfortunately tackled Spanish captain Morata from the back. This left the former Real Madrid striker in pain and was seen limping after that. While he needed no assistance and looked fine in the first take, his movement was not sharp causing fears in the La Roja camp.
At the time of writing, there was no medical update on the Spanish striker but fans will be hoping for him to be fit for the final. So far he has scored one goal in the Euro 2024 taking his overall tally in the European Championships to eight goals.

Although Morata could be a miss for them, Spain will have a huge boost heading into the final with key defenders Dani Carvajal and Robin le Normand set to return for the final. Both players missed the semifinal clash owing to suspension but will be back in the frame for the Championship clash on Sunday.
The La Roja will meet either England or Netherlands in the final on Sunday, with both going head-to-head in the second semifinal on Wednesday. In case England win, it will be a repeat of the FIFA Women’s World Cup final from last year where Spain was the victorious side. In case the Netherlands win, it will be a repeat of the 2010 FIFA World Cup final where Spain triumphed over the Orange.
