Mumbai

A few days back, a video of a specially-abled man being pushed away by actor Nagarjuna's bodyguard at the Mumbai airport went viral. The Telugu superstar Akkineni Nagarjuna was making his way out with Tamil actor Dhanush right behind him when a specially-abled fan approached the senior actor but was violently pushed away by one of the actor's bodyguards.

The fan almost fell to the floor and many shutterbugs, who were recording the scene, yelled at the bodyguard. Later, Nagarjuna retweeted this clip when it came to his notice and apologised for the way his fan was manhandled.

On Wednesday, Nagarjuna returned to the airport today for a flight and met the fan and even posed for some photographs.

Some fans were elated to see this clip and lauded the actor. However, several others felt Nagarjuna met the fan only because he was called out on social media for not reacting sooner.

Another social media user pointed out: “It's all PR ..coz the guy pushed was at the exit gate ..and this is entrance of the Mumbai airport…” whereas an internet user who claims to have met the actor pointed out, “Publicity stunt.. I know how he treats people around him because I have assisted him several times at airport.”

Whether or not it was a PR stunt, the fact is that the actor took a positive step in rectifying a mistake and social media played an important role in reminding the actor of his responsibility towards his fans.
